Michael Matthews Studio is a multidisciplinary design firm in Los Angeles led by Michael Matthews, AIA. We believe design is a catalyst of change for individuals, communities, and the planet. Known for its exploration of design’s connection to the natural world, Michael Matthews Studio has been recognized as a leader in the design field, with multiple awards from the AIA (American Institute of Architects). Founded in 2018, we have since developed a diverse design portfolio, with project locations spanning from coast to coast.
Michael Matthews, AIA and Michael Matthews Studio received a Design Award from the American Institute of Architects, Los Angeles chapter. Our “Barrel Cactus” ADU project, a design for an ADU / Guest house in San Diego, won a 2024 Design
Award. The project won in the “Next LA” category for unbuilt or in-progress projects.
