Twin Roof aDU
Twin Roof ADU is a 750 square foot Accessory Dwelling Unit in Los Angeles, California. The project features a butterfly roof, or a pair of angular roof planes which create tall ceilings for generous interior spaces. The upper floor’s
cathedral ceilings dramatically frame the surrounding mountaintop views. The ADU’s footprint is extremely compact, minimizing the impact on the property’s small backyard. The ground floor houses an artist’s studio, where the large
sliding glass doors create a fluid connection between the ADU and the backyard. The large sliding glass doors let in a lot of filtered light, creating ideal conditions for an art studio space.
Because of the floor plan’s emphasis on efficient space planning, the 750 square feet is able to fit in many flexible, independent rooms. The design is intended to be a prototype for ADUs across Los Angeles, because of its efficient
form and tight footprint that can be easily adapted to different locations.
